Chelsea Loyalty Points Explained

Everything you need to know about Chelsea member points

Chelsea tickets are competitive by design. Chelsea FC plays at Stamford Bridge, a stadium with a capacity of around 40,000 seats. This is by far the smallest of all top-6 Premier League team grounds. Demand regularly exceeds supply, especially for derby matches against Arsenal or Liverpool, European fixtures, and away games.

To manage this, Chelsea uses a loyalty based ticketing system. Officially these are called loyalty points.

This article explains how the system works, what a loyalty point is, and how many points you typically need to secure tickets.

What are Chelsea loyalty points?

Loyalty points are awarded to members who buy tickets and attend matches. Attendance matters, buying a ticket without attending the match means that you will not be awarded with loyalty points. Points are tracked per member account and reset at the start of each season.

Loyalty points for home and away matches are combined. Attending an away game earns you more loyalty points, but it is much harder to secure away tickets if you have no or only a small number of loyalty points on your account.

Why Chelsea uses a loyalty point system

Stamford Bridge sells out quickly for high profile games. Without prioritisation, members who attend regularly would compete on equal terms with new members. The loyalty point system rewards consistency and filters access for the highest demand fixtures.

Types of Chelsea ticket sales

All member sales

These are used for lower demand fixtures. Typical examples are home games against mid table or lower table teams.

When sales open, usually at 10:00 UK time, all members enter the same queue. Access is not based on loyalty points. It is first come, first served once you reach the front of the queue. If demand is moderate, tickets can remain available for hours or days.

Loyalty point based sales

For high demand fixtures, Chelsea uses a phased sale based on loyalty points.

Loyalty point basis is used for Chelsea games with:

• Games against club rivals or top-6 games.

• Champions League or Europa League games

• Away games

• Carabao Cup and FA Cup semifinals and finals

How does a Chelsea sale based on loyalty points work?

Members with the highest loyalty points enter first. Access then drops in stages.

A recent example was the Carabao Cup semifinal against Arsenal. Members with 68 loyalty points could enter at 10:00. At 12:00, access opened to members with 54 points. Further drops followed.

If tickets remain after all priority windows, sales open to members with zero points. In practice, most high demand matches sell out before this stage. When tickets do remain, availability is often limited to single seats or less popular areas such as the East Upper Stand.

"If you want to attend these top fixtures without the hassle to build loyalty points, your best bet is to buy tickets on the secondary market. Ticketseal compares all reliable partners and shows you the best deals for Chelsea tickets on the market.

How many loyalty points can you earn in a season?

The exact number changes slightly each season. Based on the 2025/2026 season so far, a regular attending home supporter could accumulate approximately:

  • 38 points from Premier League home matches
  • 51 points from Premier League away matches
  • 75 points from Champions League and domestic cup home and away matches

Even if you read this article in future seasons, the structure is unlikely to change. Only the required point levels and the total number of points available usually change.

What this means for new Chelsea members

If you are a new member, getting tickets for big matches right away is difficult. The most realistic path is:

  • Attend lower demand home games first
  • Build points steadily across the season
  • Try to buy cup games and early European fixtures
  • Accept single seats when available
